* Difficulty Grading : 1 to 4 grades where 1 is relatively easy walking,and should not exceed 5 to 6 hours per day, 2 for trips with longer hours of 6 to 7 hours daily and some hill-walking, 3 for trips that are moderate with trekking above 4,500 metres and 4 for strenuous trips with daily walking estimated at 7 to 9 hours and trekking about 5000 metres.

NEPAL - TIBET 'EXPLORATORY CIRCUIT'
12 Days with 8 Days in Tibet
(From April to October) 

This program includes 4 nights in Kathmandu and 7 nights in Tibet. 

D.1 Arrival in Kathmandu.  Transfer to the hotel. 

D.2 In the morning, sightseeing of pashupatinath and Durbar square accompanied by a guide, transport included. Afternoon, sightseeing of grand Tibetan Stupa in Bodhnath.

D.3 Sightseeing of Swayambhunath and of medieval capital of Patan. Afternoon free, preparation for your departure to Tibet. 

D.4 Departure to Kodari (Nepal - Tibet border). You will take a truck or a bus to go to Zangmu, Tibet (takes about 1 hour). Chinese formalities might take long and stay in a "Guest House" in Zangmu or Nyalam. (There is only one bank for the exchange of foreign currency until Lhasa). 

D.5 Departure for Tingri, a long day journey crossing two passes more than 5000m high. 

D.6 Departure for Xigatse, sightseeing, specially of Tashilumpo, chair of Panchen Lama. 

D.7 Departure for Gyantse and sightseeing of monasteries. 

D.8. Departure for Lhasa circling around the magnificent lake of Yamdrok a pass at 5200m. 

D.9 Lhasa, sightseeing of Potala ancient palace of Dalai Lama, of Jokhand and of Barkhor. 

D.10 Lhasa, sightseeing of monasteries of Drepung and of Serra. 

D.11 Transfer to the airport early in the morning and fly back to Kathmandu. During the flight, near the Mount Everest, a fabulous scene….. back to the hotel in Kathmandu. 

D12. Kathmandu and transfer to the airport.

TREK TO MOUNT KAILASH & LAKES OF MANSAROWAR
20 days with 14 days in Tibet (3 days trek around Mt Kailash) 
and 6 days in Nepal. 

IN TIBET, AVERAGE ALTITUDE 4000M, CROSSING A PASS AT 5600M NEAR MT. KAILASH

D1. Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. 

D2. Accompanied visit of Pashuptinath, an important religious site for Hinduism, small village of Thimi and the ancient royal town of Bhaktapur. Those who desire a pleasant hike can walk from Bhaktapur to Bodhnath (5 hours). 

D3. Visit of Swayambhunath and Bodhnath, superb temple and Buddhist stupa. Free afternoon. 

D4. Visit in the morning of Patan, another royal capital of Kathmandu valley. In the afternoon - Kathmandu and last preparation before leaving for Tibet. (These 2/3/4 days are essential in Kathmandu for obtaining the visa from the Chinese Embassy)

D5. Leave early in the morning for Zhangmu, crossing the border at Kodari by "Friendship Bridge". Border formalities for the entry into Tibet which can take from half an hour to 3 hours. As a rule 4WD Land Rovers are waiting at the other side of the bridge, but in case of bad road we may have to reach Zhangmu in a truck (1 h). 

D6. Leave Zhangmu in 4WD Jeep following the river Saga, we go up to 4000m, visit Paikutso Lake and of Mt. Shishapangma. Night under the tent. 

D7. Leave the camp in 4WD Jeep for Paryang (4100m). Along the way we see sand dunes, rocky chains and the river Paryang. We may also sight wild antelopes and the Mt. LOPU GANGRI (7098m) 

D8. Leave in 4WD Jeep for Hor. On the way we discover Nyogze Lake AND Mansarowar Lake. Certainly we will meet Tibetan nomads. Night under tent. 

D9.  Return to Mansarowar Lake in 4WD Jeep where we will see the nomads. Tents accommodation. 

D10.  Go around Mansarowar Lake in 4WD Jeep. Tents. 

D11. Leave to Darchen (4500M) in 4WD Jeep. Night in Guest House. 

D12/13/14. Trekking around Mount KAILASH following the pilgrims who circle around the sacred mountain passing through the red cliffs of Lha Chu gorge then climbing the DOLMA LA pass (5636m) that skirts Mt. Kailash. At 5500m the lake of GAURIKUND where the pilgrims bath ritually and do some offerings and then descent toward the monastery of Zutrul before arriving in Darchen. (About 5 hours' walk per day). 

D15. Departure from Darchen in 4WD and back to PARYANG, (Under tent). 

D16. Departure from Paryang in 4WD for SAKA. (Under tent) 

D17. Departure from SAKA in 4WD back to Zhangmu, night in Guest - house. 

D18. From Zhangmu back to Kathmandu in bus.

D19. Off day in Kathmandu. 

D20 or 21. Morning: free, around 11AM transfer to hotel.

LHASA - MT. KAILASH and LAKE OF MANSAROWAR -
KATHMANDU


26 days journey with 20 days in Tibet of which 3 days of trek around the Mount KAILASH. The whole journey in a Land Rover with Tibetan guide.

MT. KAILASH - Lakes of MANASAROVAR - TSAPARANG &
kingdom of GUGE, (departure by SIMIKOT)

A rare journey, a profound discovery of Tibet, meeting of Tibetan and Indian pilgrims who accomplish the pilgrimage of Mount Kailash, the most beautiful and the most revered mountain in the world. Considered in the mythology as the mount Meru, the center of the earth, it is the holiest mountain of the world for 800 million Indians and the abode of the god Shiva. It is equally holy for the Tibetan Buddhists, the Bonpos (ancient Tibetan religion) and the Jaîns. A summit of 6714m that was never conquered because the total ascent of the summit would be a sacrilege. 

D1. Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. Short guided visit of the city.

D2. Visit of Kathmandu and the valley with a professional guide.

D3. Leave Kathmandu for NepalGanj by flight. (Hotel in Nepalganj)

D4. Leave Nepalganj by flight for Simikot. The last preparations for trek. (Night in tent).

D5/6/7. Humla Valley. Uphill walk along the Karnali river by passing through Danda Kermi, Yangar, Muchu. (Nights in tent).

D8. Climb up the pass of Nara Lagna (4580m) and descent to Hilsa (official border, Tibetan staffs). (Night in tent).

D9. Leave for Sher and Khorjana, (on foot and truck) .(Night in tent).

D10. Leave Sher for Purang also know as Taklakot by 4WD Land Cruiser. (Night in Guest house).

D11. Leave Purang for the lake Manasarovar. (Land Cruiser… tent).

D12. Leave Manasarovar in the afternoon for Darchen. (Land Cruiser... guest house).

D13/14/15. Circumambulation of Mount Kailash. Nights in tent. Crossing the pass of Drolma La (5670m) and return to Darchen. (Guest house).

D16. Leave Darchen for Tholing. (Land Cruiser... tent). We enter the ancient kingdom of Guge.

D17. Tholing - Tsaparang - Tholing. Long day. (Land Cruiser... tent).

D18. Tholing -Tirthapuri. (Land Cruiser... tent).

D19. Tirthapuri - Darchen. (Land Cruiser… Guest house).

D20. Leaving for Mayumla. (Land Cruiser... tent).

D21. Leaving for Dongba. (Land Cruiser... tent).

D22. Leaving for the lakes of Pekhu Tso. (Land Cruiser... tent).

D23. Leaving for Nyalam by the pass of Lalung La (5124m). (Land Cruiser...Guest house).

D24. Leaving for Zhangmu, passing the border and return to Kathmandu in bus (return to same hotel).
