Ladakh is also known as "Little Tibet" or "The last Shangri-La". Geographically, Ladakh is on the Tibetan Plateau and the Ladakhi are also Tibetan in their culture and religion. Opened to the outside world only in 1982, it has retained much of its original way of life. In fact, many consider Ladakh more Tibetan than Tibet itself.

With majestic scenery and unique culture, Ladakh boosts of earth-towering snow peaks of the mighty Himalaya and mountains with precipitous cliffs and barren slopes with hues of purple, pink and blue.

Zanskar, a region between Himachal Pradesh to the south and Ladakh to the north offers the best transhimalayan opportunities. With dramatic gorges and towering peaks, turbulent rivers and meandering glaciers, remote ancient monasteries and quaint little villages, it is truly a trekker's paradise.

Best trekking period : June to October.
